James William Moore is a lens-based artist and art history educator who loves mixing camp, kitsch, and a touch of cinematic drama to tell stories about who we are and how we see the world. Working with photography, video, projection mapping, and installation, Moore blurs the lines between high art and pop culture—finding meaning, humor, and irony in the everyday.
In the classroom, he shares that same passion for visual storytelling, helping students explore how art and images shape the way we think and feel. Moore hopes to spark in others the same curiosity and joy he finds in art—to help them see how history, creativity, and the simple act of looking can change the way we experience the world.
Moore’s surreal works mix fact, fantasy, and wit. In Madame B’s Tarot Readings, he transforms through digitally altered self-portraits, using humor, camp, and a touch of magic to explore identity and self-expression.
